Every week I hear at least one person say “oh it’s not about the money.”    Really!!!

On my planet almost everything in life comes down to money. Most of the men I know spend a majority of their time chasing the dollar.  Some of us chase the dollar just to pay the bills, while others are seeking to build wealth.   Most people are not neutral about money.

Timothy says “…  the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” He admonishes us [men of God] to flee from the “love of money” and pursue:

• Righteousness
• Godliness;
• Faith;
• Love;
• Endurance; and
• Gentleness. 1 Timothy 6:10-11

Which interestingly seems to line up pretty well with Matthew 6:33’“…seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Aren’t we supposed to be devoted to the kingdom of God?

If a synonym for “love” is “devotion” and devotion means you something your time, effort and attention.

Then don’t most of us love money.

In fact if I really examine myself, I find that a majority of my thought life is focused on money.

If that is true for you, then the question becomes can we have two devotions?
